In eastern Jefferson County (Louisville) Kentucky, Floyd’s Fork is a single, large tributary to the Salt River which runs into the Ohio, the Mississippi and eventually the Gulf of Mexico. With significant public and private support, it is being restored and made accessible to the using public. The Floyd’s Fork watershed is home to a significant number of native and migrating birds. Recently, during a five hour field trip with a local bird watching club, we recorded seeing 46 varieties of birds but seeing them and hearing them takes waiting and patience.
