Hemp/cotton/sand from the creek: photo transfer, hand dyed and printed, appliquéd, embroidered
My watershed begins with the small trickle of water that flows behind our home. When I researched our county records for the name of this creek, I learned it was classified as a “ditch,” a low point that collects runoff, and didn’t qualify for a name on the official county maps. This piece includes a photo I took of water in our creek, transferred onto silk. I printed a second copy of this photo, chopped it up and included a small section of the photo in each of the remaining pieces.
